Chandler Ellsworth was born in Fort Covington in 1807, and was a lifelong of the town. He owned a farm of six hundred acres, and his buildings were said to be the best farm buildings in the county. Of upright life and possessed of sagacious judgement, he commanded general confidence and accumulated a fine property. He held many town offices, including the supervisorship, and was at times the candidate of the Democratic party for county positions. He died November 22, 1888.
