About Charles David Benbow
Charles David Benbow was born 13 Oct 1859.
Resignation of Mr. C. D. Benbow
It was a surprise to most of the residents of Pinehurst to learn that Mr. C. D. Benbow, who for the past four years has been resident superintendent, had resigned his position and would leave this village. In the four years that Mr. Benbow has been in Pinehurst, much has been done under his direction to make this village the ideal winter resort planned by the owner. He has, by his uniformly, courteous manner, endeared himself to the many visitors from the North who always felt that they could go to Mr. Benbow and he would do everything in his power to make them comfortable. Under his direction the several additions to the Holly Inn have been made, the Magnolia has been enlarged, the Mystic and several other cottages have been built, and the new hotel, the Carolina, the largest hotel in the State, has been completed. Mr. Benbow has not only succeeded in winning golden opinions from the visitors, but early won and held the respect and love of those who, under his direction, have done the work which has made Pinehurst what it is. One and all they say, they regret the fact that he has been called away. Mr. Benbow goes from here to his old home, Greensboro, N.C., where, in company with his father, they are building a large hotel, and where he has large business interests which demand his attention. Mr. Benbow desires to express through THE OUTLOOK, his thanks to the heads of the various departments to whom he says the credit belongs for the good work which has been done. We know we but voice the sentiments of all when we wish him all success in business and propose as toast a long and happy life to our genial friend, C. D. Benbow.
C D Benbow died 10 Aug 1947.
