Charles Dickinson was the first husband of Harriet Wood. They had two children who died in early childhood. One of them, Charles L. Dickinson, is buried next to his father at the instruction of his mother. After Charles death the youngest child, Ida Dickinson was sent to his sister's, Mary Ellen "Dickinson" Ferris, home. Ida also died as a child and is buried by the Ferris family. Records show her as Ida Ferris and she has no marker.

After her husband's death in Dec 1862, Harriet returned to her profession as an actress under her former stage name of Pauline Cushman. She also went on to become a famed female spy of the Union during the American Civil War. Her cover blown, she was tried and convicted by a Confederate military tribunal and sentenced to hang. The surprise appearance of Union forces resulted in her rescue, but brought an end to her spying activities. 41 Ohio INF soldier
