Charles Dudley "Dud" Dean

OBITUARY: (Independent Record - Helena, Montana Sep 29, 2005 page 8A) - C. Dudley Dean, age 76, of Helena passed away, Monday, Sept. 26, 2005, in Helena. He will be remembered as a loving husband, and a devoted father and grandfather who had a great passion for woodworking. Dudley was born in Billings on Sept. 15, 1929, to Charles and Betty (Hoover) Dean. He graduated from Billings Senior High School and received a B.A. degree in business administration at MSU, Missoula. Dudley served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. Dudley and Dorothy Leach were married in Helena on Jan. 28, 1978. Following 32 years of service, he retired as a marketing manager from Mountain Bell on Dec. 31, 1983. He spent his free time woodworking, working on antiques, spending time at his beloved cabin, sharing love with his family and traveling. In their retirement years, he and Dorothy resided in Arizona during the winters. He was a member of the Shriners, the Butte Lions Club, Elks and Bell Center Woodworking Club. Dudley was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; son, Mike Leach and his wife, Jayne, and their children, Janina and Falicia; daughter, Debbie Strandberg and her husband Nels and their, child Denise Gibson; son, David Dean and his wife Dee and their children, David John and Samantha; daughter Laurie Dean and John Bodine and their children, Johnathan Fagan, Meghan Olson and John Charles Bodine; son, Dan Dean and his wife, Twila, and their children, Dexter and Maggie. Viewing hours will be from 1 to 8 p.m. today, Sept. at Retz Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will follow at Forestvale Cemetery.
