Abraham Friend was born circa 1750, perhaps in Augusta County, Va. He and his father Charles Friend were taxed in Greenbrier County, Va. from 1782-1787. Charles continued to have deeds and taxes in Greenbrier, and later in Monroe Co., till his death about November 1811.
Believed to be the children of Charles [Friend],

- George Friend, who was an adult by 1778, and last taxed 1787, Charles W. Friend went to Washington County, Va., and then to Floyd Co., Ky. His sons were rumored to have been in Miami Co., Ohio, but there is no documentation that they actually lived there
- Charles W. Friend who married 22 Sep. 1783 to Rachel Tackett, d/o [daughter of] John; and
- Mary(Molly) Friend who married 22 November 1790, Washington County, Va., to William Wheeler.
