Charles was the father of First Lady, Lou Henry Hoover, wife of President Herbert Hoover. His daughter, Lou Henry Hoover met the future President while both were students at Stanford University. Her father, Charles, started life as a woolen mill operator and partner in mining interests, as a bookeeper in a bank and later established a bank in Monterey, California. His daughter married Herbert Hoover in Monterey,California. The Hoover's built a home on the campus of Stanford University which still stands today and is the home of the President of the University. She was buried in the family plot at Alta Mesa Cemetery, Palo Alto, California and re-interred in 1964 at the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library, West Branch, Iowa, where she lays beside her husband. Charles Henry had one other daughter, Jean, who was the youngest of the sisters.
Charles Henry was the son of: William Henry, born Nov. 13, 1816, died March 1856, Wooster, Wayne Co., Ohio and Mary Ann Dwyer, born 1828. They married in 1844.
