CHARLES de Lalaing,
count of Hoochstrate, Hornes and Rennebourg (after his nephew Antoine), knight of the Golden Fleece in 1622, State Councillor in 1624, member of the Council of War, gentleman of the chamber of Archduke Albert, governor of Tournai in 1615, then of Artois in 1624, captain of a company of ordinance and colonel of a regiment of Walloon infantry; known at first under the title of baron of Hachicourt (near Arras), distinguished himself in the war against the Dutch and married in 1607…

…Alexandrine DE LANGLÉE, daughter of Jacques, baron of Eyne, and Jacqueline de Récourt-Licques. He died in Arras in 1626 and was buried in the church of Hoogstraeten, under a marble tomb, the work of the sculptor Pierre Scheemaeckers le vieux, of Antwerp (101).
He left several children:

1° Albert-François, who followed.

2° Pierre-Jacques Procope de Lalaing, count of Rennebourg, sergeant general of battle, governor of Brussels about 1667; born about 1615, he was considered, about 1669, as the last male of the house of Lalaing (102); he left only one daughter, of Marie DE RENESSE Warfuzée, whom he had married, in 1649, by contract passed in Brussels, daughter of Rene, count of Warfuzée, and of Alberto d' Egmont. He died in 1698.

An engraved plate of the work entitled Jurisprudentia heroica (Brussels, 1668, in-f°) gives the sixteen quarters of the count of Rennebourg, who carried then the full arms of his house.

A. Marie-Jacqueline de Lalaing, "who was very beautiful and of little spirit" (103), married in 1674 to her first cousin Philippe-François DE BERGHES, count of Grimberghe, created prince of Berghes in 1686, knight of the Golden Fleece (104). Of which posterity. She died in childbirth in 1685.

3° Jacqueline de Lalaing, lady of the palace of the Infanta Isabella, who doted her with 132,700 maravedis, around 1628, at the time of her marriage to Philippe DE MERODE, Count of Middelbourg; having no children from this union, she married, in 1631, at Tournai, Gillion-Otton, Marquis DE TRAZEGNIES, governor of Tournai at the time of the french conquest (105) She died in 1672. The nephew of this lord was no longer taken into account, but he did not die until 1691. See below, XVIII.

4° Marguérite de Lalaing, canoness of Mons in 1619.

5° Anne-Isabelle de Lalaing, canoness of Mons in 1625.

6° Léonore de Lalaing, provost of the canonesses of Berlaymont in Brussels (1648-1654), professed in 1632, died in 1668.

7° Philippine-Claire de Lalaing, provost of the same convent (1671-1678), "consultant" in 1686, professed in 1633, died in 1691.

8° Marie-Margueite de Lalaing, canoness of Berlaymont, professed in 1636, died the same year.

Il avait épousé en 1607 Alexandrine de Langlée, dite de Wavrin, baronne de Pecq et d'Eyne, ber de Flandre, chanoinesse de Sainte-Waudru à Mons, en 1581, fille de Jacques de Langlée, chevalier, baron d'Eyne, seigneur de Pecq, conseiller et chambellan du roi d'Espagne, souverain-bailli de Flandre, et de Jacqueline de Recourt, dite de Licques.
