Charles Bachrach, a brother of Henry and Louis Bachrach of this city, committed suicide Thursday at Chicago. The brothers in this city received word Friday morning and Louis Bachrach will go to Chicago today.
A press telegram gives the following facts concerning the suicide:
Chicago, IL, Nov 14 - For reasons not yet explained, Charles Bachrach, 3369 Prairie avenue, an old resident of Chicago, shot himself today on the seventeenth floor of the Monadnock building. He was found in a lavatory by James Hawley, an elevator man at the building whose attention had been called by the report of a revolver shot.
Mr. Bachrach at one time owned a number of clothing stores in different parts of Illinois, Ohio and Missouri. In 1897, he was forced to make an assignment and he is said to have been despondent since that time.
Decatur, Il Review Nov 15, 1901

His early life was spent on the frontier, and he came to Chicago in 1876. He was born in south Germany sixty-one years ago and came to this country at the age of 8. He was married thirty-three years ago and nine children survive him. They are B. C., Sampson, Robert, Walter and Arthur Bachrach of Chicago, Mrs. Jacob Eiseman, Baltimore; Hertha Bachrach, Baltimore; William in New York City, and Harry in San Francisco.
The funeral will be at the residence. The burial will be at Rosehill.
