A farmer of the Petite Cote (the area around River Canard), he lived to be 81. He and five of his brothers were in the militia which fought in the War of 1812 (on the British side) in Captain Laurent Bondy's Company in the 1st Essex Regiment. In July, 1812, there were skirmishes and fighting at the bridge where the Fort Malden Road crosses the River Canard, near the Renaud farms. Captain Bondy was killed in action at Fort Meigs on the Maumee river in Ohio on May 5, 1813, so the Renauds probably fought there also.
