General Charles Rudoph Joseph Francis Taaffe, 10th Viscount Taaffe of Corren was born on 26 April 1823.1 He was the son of Louis Patrick John Taaffe, 9th Viscount Taaffe of Corren and Amelia Prinzessin Berzenheim von Regécz.1 He died on 19 November 1873 at age 50, unmarried.1

On 17 August 1860 hsi right to his Irish titles was recognised by the Committee of Privileges of the House of Lords.1 He held the office of Chamberlain to the Emperor of Austria.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the 12th Lancers, Austrian Army.1
