Rites Set For Crash Victim Roxbury - Funeral services for Charles L. Sanford, 34, of Roxbury, who was instanly killed Thursday when his truck went off the road near here, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Gould Memorial Reformed Church.
The Rev. Herman E. Luben, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Halcotsville Cemetey. Roxbury American Legon Post will conduct services at the grave.
Mr. Sanford was born Aug. 27, 1916, at Halcottsville, the only son of Charles Herbert and Rebecca (Owen) Sanford.
When he was 10, his mother was married to Alva Craft of Roxbury, and the family moved here.
He attended Roxbury Central School and later enlisted in World War Two. A recipient of a campaign medal and the Americal Liberation Medal, he served three years in the Pacific area. He had the rank of corporal.
At the close of the war, he returned here and began work in the Delaware County Dairies creamery, where he has since been employed.
On Oct. 28, 1947, he married Miss Katie Porter of West Cobleskill.
Surviving is his mother, Mrs. Rebecca Craft; his wife, and a two-year-old daughter, Susan. Inscription: NY Tec 5 542 Engr B+S Regt WWII
