According to the book, "The Vincent Family: Descendants of Adrian Vincent," by Anna M. Vincent and Clifford M. Buck,

"Charles Vincent settled in Lower Yonkers before 3 Aug 1681 when he, William Chattetr, John and Alice Betts petitioned and recorded as citizens of Wescester clamed that they belonged to the town in the North Riding of Long Island and not to John Dockers (?) Patent. (The East Riding consisted of the present Suffolk County

"Charles Vincent in 1681 purchased a small farm in the northerly part of what is now Van Cortlandt Park located on both sides of the brook which feeds the pond in the park, known as Mosquito or Tibbitts Brook.

"Deed, 30 Oct 1683, William Chaddeton and Deborah, his wife convey to Charles Vincent, of the same place, a parcel of land, bounded on the west by a brook, "being a part of the landwhich I bought of John Hoda, Sr. by bill of sale, April 28, 1681."

"Westchester County, Register of Deed 118, 18 March 1684, Charles Vincent signed his mark--conveyed to John Wod 10 acres of above land.

"Deed 1 Feb 1691, John Hadden, Sr. of Westchester conveyed to Charles Vincent 7/53 of the Yonkers Plantations 20 acres of land on the West side of Muscota (Tibbets Brook) bounded on the north and west by the land of Frederick Phillips (West Deeds 127).

Deed 1 Feb 1691, William Smith, son of William Smith dec'd conveyed to Charles Vincent 7/53 all his right title and interest in six aces of upland in the Yonkers Plantation which his father bought of Edward Hadden. It lay west of Tibbets Brook and aforesaid lnd of Samuel Barrett (West Deeds 119).

"Minutes of the Court of Sessions published bythe Westchester Historical Society in 1924 show Charles Vincent 7/53 entered a complaint against John Barrett for shutting off his highway (page 80).

"This term of court adopted a resolution urging the killing of wolves."

"5 Dec 1693 and 5 June 1695, Charles Vincent was a Grand Juror (pages 84 and 100).

From New York General and Buigrapical Record, Vol. 38, page 218, is a list of families at Fordham, Westchester County, 1698; Charles Vinson, his wife Elizabeth and children Charles, Leonard, Susanne and Bettie.

"In 1701, he conveyed his farm to his osn Charles Vincent and he and his wife probably continued to reside there until their death sometime after 1713.

"January, 1702, Charles Vincent, Sr. was elected vestryman of the Episcopal Church.

"Westchester County Register of Deeds, Liber E, p. 337, dated 19 Dec. 1713, Charles Vincent, Jr. of the Yonkers Plantation conveyed certain land to Leonard Vincent which the deed recited was made with the consent of Charles Vincent, Sr.,"my father and Elizaeth, my mother."

Charles Vincent of Yonkers, first apears in New York in 1675 as a minor creditor in the estate of George Tibbits of Yonkers, whose property bordered Charles Vincent's. in 1698, Charles Vincent's family, naming a wife, Elizabeth, and four children, Charles, Leonard, Bettie, and Susannah, was enumerated in a census for the "Fordham and adjacent places." The research and a publication by Gerald R. Cincent, Duncan, BC, has developed a theory that Charles Vincent of Yonkers was the same as a Charles Vincent of Maryland, who was a immigrant in 1663. Gerald R. Vincent's book, titled, "Beginning of a MArked Red Oak", is an excellent study of the available dovuments and description of the early colonial times. On 3 August 1681, William Chadderton, John Betts, Alice Betts, and Charles Vincent petitioned that they were legqally in the Town of Westchester and not a part of John Archer's patent. On the second Tuesday in January 1701/2, a meeting of parishioners was held "persuant to an act of the Gen. Archer's aptent. On the second Tuesday in January 1701/2, a meeting of parisionares was held "persuant to an act of the General Assembly for the settling of a Ministry and Charles Vincent of Yonkers was named a verstryman. Charles Vincent was involved in several early land transactions in Westchester County. On 1 Feb 1691.
