Charles K. Von Der Ahe, philanthropist, real estate developer and longtime Valley resident, died Nov. 26 of cancer. He was 61.
Von Der Ahe was born in Los Angeles on April, 13, 1937. He attended Loyola Marymount University, graduating in 1959, and was a Loyola Law School graduate.
With his brother Thomas, he formed a successful real estate development company in 1970. They built The Racquet Centre in Universal City, retail centers and apartment buildings.
Von Der Ahe was a chairman of the Board of Regents at Loyola Marymount University and a chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Providence Saint Joseph Foundation.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanor; his sons, Charles T., Christopher J., Wilfred L., Gregory P. and Peter A.; his stepdaughters, Christine M., Cynthia E. and Cara C.; his mother, Mary Jane; his brothers, Wilfred L. and Thomas R.; his sister, Christine E.; and nine grandchildren.
