About Charles Carey Waldrup
WALDRUP, CHARLES CAREY Waldrup, Charles Carey, age 78 of Birmingham went to be with our Lord on Sunday January 16, 2011. Charles is survived by his childhood sweetheart of 58 years, Joan Brisendine, his son Tim Waldrup (Cindy), his daughter Terri Sparks (Dr. Gerry) and son Todd Waldrup (Debi) and sister Martha Jane Swain (Tom), nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Cory Savanna, Nathanial, Alexandra Sparks and Blake Waldrup. Charles grew up in Central Park where he was a paper boy (Birmingham News) delivering papers on his Cushman. He graduated from Ensley High where he was on the track team and ROTC. He graduated Auburn, served in the US Army in Ulm, Germany during the Korean War. He worked for Miller Electric (Tuscaloosa) and 30 plus years for Bristol Lab. until his retirement. He loved camping, canoeing, car shows and traveling with his dear friends from church. Other great moments in his life were watching his grandchildren play sports and race cars. He also loved motorcycle trail riding with his children. He was a member of Central Park Boys, Toastmasters, Birmingham Barbershop Chorus and a member of Central Baptist Church. He and his family always made time for each other and vacationed frequently with family and friends. Funeral service will be Wednesday January 19, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at Ridout's Trussville Chapel with interment to follow at 1:15 P.M. in the Alabama National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday January 18, 2011 from 5 P.M. until 7 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family request contributions be made to the John Croyle "Big Oak Ranch".
