Her brother, 'Carl' was a favorite of Dorothy's. She always mentioned how well he played the piano, sang. She moved from England to NYC, NY to work and, initially to accompany his fiance, Lily. They had to marry the day she arrived at Ellis Island. It was quite the family story always told at holiday dinners. This is because the best man became Dorothy's husband.
He actually died in late December of 1923 but the ground was so frozen, or some such, that he was not buried until early 1924 so death records show his death as 1924 (according to his daughter Dorothy Edith).
