Christian Paton, here treated, was born on 15 April 1712 and her baptism was registered on 16 April 1712, at Newlands in Peeblesshire, Scotland. Her mother's name is not recorded in her baptismal record. It reads as follows: "Christian D: to Mr Stephen Paton minr of the Gospel at Newlands born [the] 15th day." Christian Paton, here treated, died on 1 June 1792, at Eddleston in Peeblesshire, Scotland. She was buried in the churchyard at Eddleston on 4 June 1792. Her burial record reads as follows: "[1792] June 1. Died at Edlestoun Mrs Christian Paton, Relict of the Revd. Alexander Robertson late minr. of this parish deceased, and was buried in the Church Yard there on the fourth currt." They were booked for proclamation at at Newlands in Peeblesshire on 21 October 1735, and at Eddleston there on 25 October 1735. The marriage booking at Newlands reads as follows: "Mr Alexander Robertson minr of the Gospel at Eddleston, & Christian Paton Daur to Mr Stephen Paton minr of the Gospel at Newlands, gave up their names etc married at Newlands by Mr Alexander Walker Novr 14th." Critical Commentary

(1) Christian Paton was born of 15 April 1712 and not 16 April 1712. This last date was the date upon which her baptism was registered at Newlands in Peeblesshire, Scotland. (2) Christian Paton died on 1 June 1792. She did nor die at Edinburgh in Midlothian. She died at Eddleston in Peeblesshire, and was buried in the churchyard there on 4 June 1792.
