Christina was born in Cleveland, Ohio on September 16, 1845. Shortly after the civil war, she and her brother, Anthony, came to the Fond du Lac area. On June 28, 1870 Christina and Joseph H. Enders were married in a double wedding ceremony at Holy Cross church in Mt Calvary with Joseph's sister Mary Regina Enders and Christina's brother Anthony Rothgery.
Joseph was a stage coach driver for the route between Fond du Lac and Sheboygan, Wisconsin. It has also been said that he was an excellent hunter. He left the stage coach driving job in 1874 to purchase the Enders homestead from his father for $1300, when his father decide to retire and move to St Cloud, Wisconsin.
To Joseph and Christina were born nine children; Anton, Mary, John, Ed, George, Della, Joe, Caspar, and Arthur. They were all raised on the farm learning the values of hard work and their Catholic heritage. Caspar Joseph, the eighth child, died only after eight months in the arms of his brother Tony.
On August 21, 1912, Joseph sold the farm to his wife, Christina because he knew he was dying of cancer. On October 21, 1912, Joseph passed away at his home in the Town of Marshfield, Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin at the age of 67.
Christina sold the farm later that year and went on to live with her children. She lived to the age of 93 when she passed away at the home of her son, Joseph P. Enders.
As of June 1983 Joseph and Christina left 772 direct descendants.
This info is from Robert Baumann's book "Descendants of Joseph H. and Christina Rothgery Enders" June 1983.
