Hi Pat,

How have been doing with the family of Josiah MOORES b. Feb. 28, 1776 in Rowan Co NC. He was a 1st cousin of my Major John MOORE who was also born in Rowan Co Oct. 9,1777 d. Oct 29, 1844 in LCT. In fact they were more than 1st cousins Josiah and John mothers were sisters.

My records show that your Josiah married a Margaret Givens. and he died in Ark in Aug 18, 1858. His father was William Moores b.abt 1734 in Woodbridge NJ m. Elizabeth ROSS dau of Isaac Ross and Jean BROWN. His uncle Lt Henry MOORES was married in Rowan County to Jean Brown ROSS. Josiah's uncle Henry and his father William both died in LCT.

Their Father was made an orphan in 1712 when both of his parents died within days of each other in Woodbridge NJ. Their grandmother Christiana Alward d. Oct 15, 1712 and is burried next to her husband William MOORES in the Old White Church Graveyard next to the church.

Josiah's great great grandfather was Mathew MOORES brother of the famous Samuel MOORE. These two brothers came into NJ in 1666 from MA. where their father Francis MOORES came to America in 1638
