Buren is not far from (H)aert, back in the 'old' country... We might conjecture that the de Vos and Vandegrifts may have had a history in ancestral dealings.

Her first husband is listed at marriage as "van Grast in Hollt", assuming Hollt is Holland, could "Grast"="Grist"?
