Barrister-at-Law, Middle Temple. He orse to a high degree of reputation and consequently had many pupils. All his children were born at 56 Doughty Street, a few doors away from the Dickens family. February 1828: Numerous petitions to Parliament during this and preceding years from Darlington, Stockton and other towns for the repeal of the Test and Corporation Acts. [Christopher drew this up.] Unitarian by faith.
Married 14th October 1819 in the Parish Church of Stockton-on-Tees, Maria, eldest daughter of William and Jane Maria Wilson (nee Fowler). William Wilson, son of Robert Wilson (Solicitor at Stockton, and his wife Mary Wilkinson). William Wilson's first wife was Ann Davison and their daughter, Anna, married H.R.Wright (Lawyer). William Wilson's second wife was Jane Maria, daughter of D'Arcy Fowler (Attormey of Stockton) and his wife Jane Calvert of Stokesby (married 1765), a niece of Marmaduke Calvert (Solicitor at Stokesby), and a niece of Charles Calvert, Lord Baltimore. D'Arcy was the son of Captain Fowler and his wife Maria Launce (sister of Rebecca Launce whose portrait was painted in oils by Sir Godfrey Kneller). Maria and Rebecca were daughters of Squire Launce of Launceston, Cornwall. The daughters travelled to the north of England in Captain Fowler's ship. It is said that Squire Launce gambled away his estate.
"1765, 8th April: Mr D'Arcy Fowler, an eminent Attorney in Stockton, was married at Northallerton to Miss Calvert, a very agreeable, genteel and well accomplished young lady with a fortune of £1,000. The new married couple on their arrival at Stockton that evening were saluted with peals of bells, firing of guns, and other demonstrations of joy." [Newcastle Chronicle]
The Wilsons were left money by relatives of theirs, Peter Cockfield and Mr Heron.
