About Cindy Hyde-Smith, U.S. Senator

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cindy_Hyde-Smith

Cindy Hyde-Smith (born May 10, 1959) is an American politician serving as the junior United States Senator from Mississippi since April 2, 2018. She was the Mississippi Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce from 2012 to 2018, the first woman to hold that office. She also served in the Mississippi State Senate for three terms and chaired the Senate Agriculture Committee for eight years. She is a member of the Republican Party.

On March 21, 2018, Governor Phil Bryant announced his intention to appoint Hyde-Smith to the United States Senate seat being vacated by long-serving Senator Thad Cochran. She took office on April 2, 2018,[1] becoming Mississippi's first female member of Congress.

In the aftermath of the 2020 Presidential Election, US. Sen. Smith voted to reject the slate of electors from the State of Pennsylvania, thereby asserting the unconstitutional premise that a senator has a right to reject a State legislature's certification of a General Election.
