About Claibourn/Labon/Sabern Hampton

According to the Rockcastle County 1850 census, the household of Claiborn (Claibourn) Hampton includes Stacy Ann Hampton, Pleasant Hampton, and Manirva Hampton. Since I know Pleasant Hampton was born in Laurel County, Kentucky, that means Claiborn and Stacy Ann were living there at the time of his birth.

Claiborn and Stacy Ann's ages were 50 and 47 on the 1850 census and they had two teenage children living with them: Pleasant (15) and Manirva (16). The marriage index record in the Laurel County Court House lists a marriage date of 5 Jun 1838 for "Sabern" Hampton and "Stacy Ann Sagilles ??" (question marks are on the record; I didn't add them.). Another marriage index record lists her surname as Sogellen. Since Claiborn and Stacy Ann would have been about 38 and 35 when they married, it is quite possibly a second marriage.

Another researcher has a copy of a family photograph stating the two men shown are Pleasant Hampton and his half-brother which also indicates Claiborn and/or Stacy were married to someone else prior to their marriage. Pleasant's birth date on his death certificate is 11 Jul 1837 which indicates he was either the son of a different wife of Claiborn's, or he was the son of Stacy Ann but was born 11 months before they got married (5 Jun 1838). Subsequent census records for Pleasant indicate his parents were either born in North Carolina or Virginia. There is a 68 year old Stacy Hampton living alone next door to Pleasant on the 1860 census. That probably means Claiborn died after the 1850 census was taken and before the 1860 census was taken.

Pleasant's death certificiate shows his father's name as Labern Hampton. Since the name was listed as Claiborn on the 1850 census, Labern could be a nickname for Claiborn. Some other spellings are: Clayborn, Claybourn, Claibourn. Other spellings for the nickname are: Laben, Labon, Laban and Labin. Labin Hampton is on the 1831 Laurel County tax list. I believe Claiborn/Claibourn/Sabern/Labern/Labin are the same person.

I would love to fill in the gaps. Here are a few questions: Who is the half-brother of my great grandfather? Is Stacy Ann my direct line (great great grandmother, or is she Pleasant's step mother? Which state(s) were Claiborn and Stacy Ann born in?
