About Clarence Leonard Walker
Springbok Boxer 1920 Olympic Games. Clarence Walker was the first South African boxer to win a gold medal at the Olympic Games. He won the bantamweight gold medal in Antwerp in 1920. After many fights, Clarence won the South African bantamweight championship on April 14, 1928 when he beat Scotty Frazer, but he retired without defending the title. He worked as a clerk at the Railway stores department for many years and died in 1957 in Florida on the West Rand, South Africa.
