About Clifford Lawrence Elliott
Son of Laurence White Elliott and Edna Leone France. Stepson of Frederick William Nicholls. Married Lyle Marie McArthur, 25 March 1943, Fort Smith, Sebastian, Arkansas. Children - Cheryl Anne Elliott, Richard Elliott Obituary - Clifford Lawrence Elliott, age 75, died March 17, 1993 in Salt Lake City, Utah: Born March 25, 1917, in Farmington, Utah, to Lawrence and Edna France Elliott. Married Lyle McArthur, March 25, 1943, at Fort Smith, Arkansas. He entered the military in 1941, and has memories of the sacrifices he and millions of other Americans made for our country. He served with distinction in WW II and the Korean War and was one of the most decorated veterans in Utah; 2 Silver Stars, 2 Bronze Stars, 4 Purple Hearts, French Croix de Guerre, and was inducted into the Army Hall of Fame at Fort Knox, Kentucky. He also served as past-president of The National Third Armored Division Association.
Business and personal interests were flowers, and he spent much of his life in his greenhouses, raising gladiolas and carnations, and in his flower gardens at home. He was the former owner/operator of Nicholls' greenhouse and past-member of The Utah Florist Association, Northwest Florist and National Carnation Society. In his youth he was a skier and throughout his life an avid golfer.
A charter member of Oakridge Country Club where he served on the first board of directors. He was also a member of Bloomington Country Club and the Elks Lodge of St. George, Utah. He loved jazz music and was devoted to his family.
Survived by his wife of 50 years; and 7 children, Clifford L., Jr. (Lynette), Farmington, Utah; Carol Lee, Fruit Heights, Utah; Cheryl Ann, Santa Fe, New Mexico; Fredrick L. (Lynette), Salt Lake City, Utah; Robert M. (Kathryn), St. George, Utah; Jacqueline Brown (Dirk), Kaysville, Utah; Kelven S. (Catherine), North Salt Lake, Utah; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by one son.
The family would like to thank the Coronary Care Unit at the University of Utah Medical Center for their loving and compassionate care.
Funeral services Saturday, March 20th, 2 p.m., Larkin Chapel, 260 East South Temple, where friends may call Friday evening 6-8 p.m. and Saturday, one hour prior to services. Burial, Larkin Sunset Lawn Cemetery, 2350 East 1300 South, Salt Lake City.
