5 December 1726: Disposition in favour of Donald Macdonald, elder of Benbecula, of the lands and barony of Castletirrim, following upon a disposition by Mr Alexander McKenzie, narrating that at the request of Mrs Penelope McKenzie, dowager of the deceased Allan McDonald of Mudart, Captain of Clanranald, he purchased the above lands and barony from the Commissioners of Forfeited Estates in Scotland (See No. 215) and did pass a Charter of Resignation under the Great Seal in favour of Donald McDonald, elder of Benbecula, as nearest male heir of the family of Moydart, in liferent, Ronald McDonald, younger of Benbecula, also in liferent, and to Ronald, eldest son of Ronald in fee, heritably, whom failing to Donald, his second son, subject to the burden of relieving Mr Alexander McKenzie and implementing of several backbonds, granted by him to the creditors on the estate of Moydart, also with payment of certain sums to the said Mr Alexander, and Mrs Penelope McKenzie, and of a yearly annuity of £300 sterling; and that Ronald McDonald, younger of Benbecula shall have power to grant a liferent provision, not exceeding £200 sterling, to Margaret McLeod, his spouse, and to contract debts etc., not exceeding £4800 Scots, and to grant tacks and rentals etc. dated at Edinburgh 5 December 1726.National Records of Scotland, Papers of the MacDonald Family of Clanranald , reference GD201/1/219
