About Colonel Eskridge Kenner
http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/w/a/g/Rick--Waggener/GEN...
Colonel is a given name and not a title. He was named after his great-grandfather Colonel George Eskridge. He apparently moved to Carroll County, Arkansas in 1836.
Colonel is the name of Francis Kenner's son, not a title. He usually went by C.E. Kenner or C. Eskridge Kenner or just Eskridge. He lived and married in Hawkins County, Tennessee and all of his children were born there. He came to Tennessee from North Carolina with his father when just a child. He owned land that he purchased from John G. Winston, Lawrence Kenner, Henry Buram, and Joseph Morrison. The deeds are dated 1810, 1809, 1818. In 1836, when Eskridge was over sixty years old, he sold his land to Orville Reed 1836 and soon after moved to Osage, Arkansas in Carroll County. At least four of his children came to Arkansas with him. These were Samuel, William W., and James W., and Sophia Eskridge. Eskridge is buried in the Kenner family cemetery about one mile out of Osage on Road 103. He died in 1858 and on his gravestone is inscribed, "My body I commit to the dust and my soul to God that gave it being." Colonel Eskridge's children are as follows: Libby, Mahala, Polly, Louisiana, Indiana, Samuel, William W., James Wick, and Sophia Eskridge.
