Colonel John Frederic Everett of Salisbury, formerly of Greenhill House, Sutton Veny, and Upton Lovel Manor, all co. Wilts; born at Heytesbury, co. Wilts, 17 October,bapt. there 31 December 1834;educated at Winchester; entered the Army as Ensign 13th ( Prince Albert’s) Light Infantry 14 May 1853, Lieutenant 13 February 1855, Captain 25th (The King’s Own Borderers) Foot 31 January 1860; Hon. Colonel The Duke of Edinburgh’s ( Wiltshire) Regiment 13 March 1886; served in the Crimea from 30 June 1855 , including the battle of the Tchernaya and the siege and fall of Sebastopol (medal with clasp and Turkish medal); in the Indian Mutiny August 1857 to 1859, including the relief of Azimghur 6 April 1858, and subsequent actions at Hurreah , Deburreah, Doomureahgunge , Toolsepore and Bootwab 25 and 28 March 1859 (medal); J. P. for co. Wilts; died at The Close, Salisbury, aged 68, on Thursday, 14 May, bur. at Sutton Veny on Saturday, 16 May 1903 .
