About Constance of Sicily
Constance of Sicily, Dogaressa of Venice
Constance of Sicily, was a Sicilian Princess and the Dogaressa of Venice by marriage to the Doge Pietro Ziani (r. 1205–1229).
She was the daughter of Tancred, King of Sicily, and Sibylla of Acerra. She married the Doge in 1213, after the death of his former dogaressa Maria Baseggio. She is described as beautiful and dignified and the marriage as happy. There are several legends of her death.

King Tancred & his wife Sibylla had [six] children:
6. CONSTANCE . The Thomas Tusci Gesta Imperatorum et Pontificum names (in order) "Alberia, Constantia et Madania" as the three daughters of "Tancredus [rex Siciliæ]" & his wife, specifying that Constance was "uxor Marcisiani ducis Venatorum" and that she had no sons[645]. She was confined with her mother and sisters at the convent of Hohenburg in Alsace. The Historia Ducum Veneticorum names "Constanciam…Tancredi regis Sycilie filiam" as second wife of Pietro Ziani[646]. According to William of Tyre (Continuator), Gauthier de Brienne married "l'autre suer [de sa feme] au fiz dou duc de Venese"[647].
