   Last Will and Testament was proved in Open Court by the oath of Edmund Holleman and ordered to be recorded.
   March Term 1797 R. Tutt C.E. C.
   In the Name of God, Amen, the twenty fifth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety three --
   I, William Jeter of Edgefield County and Ninety Six District in the State of South Carolina, planter, being of aged and feeble of body, but of perfect mind and memory, thanks be to God for the same and therefore calling the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain etc. this my Last Will and Testament, that is to say principally and first of all, I recommend my soul into the hands of almighty God that gave it and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in a decent like christian burial, at the discretion of my executors. Nothing doubting but at the general resurrection, I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of almighty God and recieve the salvation through the merits of our blessed Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me in this life ---
   I give, devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form ----
   Imprimis Item. I lend my beloved wife Margaret Jeter all my whole estate, both real and personal that I am now possessed with, her life time or widowhood. Item I give and bequeath unto Margaret my dearly beloved wife, one feather bed and furniture being the bed we now usually lie upon (or on) one dark bay mare known by the name of Fancy, one cow and calf and three head of sheep ----
   Item I give and bequeath unto my well beloved John William Jeter four hundred acres of land, one negro man named Ned, one feather bed and furniture, all which being put into his possession with other household furniture as likewise to him and his heirs forever.
   Item I give unto my daughter Partheny Vaughn, one hundred acres of land, one feather bed and furniture, one mare, saddle and bridle with all and which I had formerly given her and put into her possession, unto her and her heirs forever.
   Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Ancridge Howlet the goods and chattles that I formerly lent her, as also a debt of twenty one pounds, two shillings and eight pence half penny Virginia currency, now sdie to me by Crudock Vaughn, unto her and her heirs forever, as also one hundred acres of land which I give unto my grandson Seth Howlet, lying between the mire branch and the red lick branch.
   Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Calpharna Baker, one tract of sixty acres of land, two mares, a saddle and bridle, and other household furniture, which I had formerly given and put into her possession to her and her heirs forever.
   Item I give and bequeath unto my son Hal Jeter, a wagon and horse which I now have lent him, all my land lying from the back line to the old road formerly running by Samuel Hills on both sides Gunnells Creek to him and his heirs fore
   Item I give and bequeath unto my son Joseph Jeter, one negro girl called Edy to him and his heirs forever. -----
   Item I give and unto my son Cornelius Jeter, one mulatto boy called Boson and one cow and calf which he now has in his possession, to him and his heirs forever. ---
   Item I give and bequeath unto my son James Jeter, two negroes know by the name of Jack and Hannah, one hundred acres of land and plantation, wheron he now lives, together with a negro boy known by the name of Phil, which land and boy he now has in his possession to him and his heirs forever.
   Item I give and bequeath unto my son Argalers Jeter, one negro boy know by the name of Isaac, one sorrel stallion called Speddil which he hath now, to him and his heirs forever.
   Item I give and bequeath unto my son Eliazer Jeter,, the plantation and land whereon I now live up Gunnels Creek to the road dividing between Neal Jeter that has been heretofore mentioned, one negro boy named Sam, one cow and calf, one black stallion colt, three head of sheep and one feather bed and furniture to him and his heirs forever
   Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth Cruze, one negro girl called Jude, one negro boy I give to my grandson William Cruze named Cot to them and their heirs for ever.
   Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Sarah Crof by [sic -- Crosby?] one negro girl called Edy which she now has in possession to her and her heirs foreer.
   Item I lend unto my daughter Nancy Moselly during her life one hundred acres of land adjoining Ine. Kilcrease and Henry Key surveyed for me and granted to me by the Honble Noble at her death. I give unto my grandson George Moseley son of Chancy Moseley all the aforesaid land of one hundred acres and fifteen pounds sterling after the death of my wife, which I desire may be put to lawful interest til his arrival to twenty one years of age ---
   Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Pruscilla Moseley one cow and calf, to my grand daughter Salley Moseley, daughter of Pruscilla Moseley, one hundred and twenty acres of land lying on the upper side of the red lik branch waters of Gunnels Creek ---
   Iem I lend unto my daughter Peggy Kilcrease, one negro girl called Tamer and one feather bed which she now has in her possession and one bay stallion colt known by the name of Jubiter, and if she dies without leaving an heir, to be divided as is hereafter mentioned, and I give unto my daughter Peggy Kilcrease one hundred and fifty acres of land wheron she now lives that there should not be a charge made of a certain sorrel horse by Miuor Kilcrease, husband of my daughter Peggy against my estate.
   Item I leave all my estate that has not been heretofore mentioned to be divided in the following manner (VIZ) one sixth part to Hal Jeter, one sixth part ot Geo. Mosely son of my daughter Nancy Mosely, one sixth part to Sally Mosely daughter of my daughter Priscilla Mosely and one sixth part to my daughter Peggy Kilcrease. ----
   Item I do constitute and ordain Margaret Jeter, my beloved wife, my friend, John Martin and my son Hal Jeter my sole executors of this my Last Will and Testament, and I do utterly disallow, revoke, disannul all and every other former testament wills, legacies, bequeaths and executors by me in any ways before named, willed and bequeathed and confirming this and no other to be my Last Will and Testament.
   In witness whereunto I have set my hand and seal the day and year first within written.
