Cornelius was of Fairfield, CT. He was one of the founders of Bedford, Westchester Co., NY where he was an innkeeper.

On 6 Dec, 1687, Cornelius conveyed meadow land to William Clark. About 1688, he was on a jury in Westchester Co., NY. In 1704, two of the proprietors of the Dibble and Vineyard Purchase (now part of Westchester Co.) were Cornelius Seeley, Sr. and

Cornelius Seeley, Jr. At a meeting of parishioners of Christ Church, held 9 Jan 1710, Cornelius was elected churchwarden. Cornelius deeded land in Bedford, NY to his children. In 1706/7, he gave land to Sarah and Elizabeth. In 1709, he gave land to Joseph. In 1714/5, he gave land to Joseph, Sarah and Cornelius, Jr.

In the Census of 1710, Cornelius and Priscilla appear in Bedford, NY, both age 60. Their daughter Sarah was living with them, age 34.
