Biography ==Robert Hallett, was born April 4, 1759,(1) location unknown, perhaps New York. He died in May, 1838,(1) at Upper Brighton, Carleton Co., NewBrunswick, and was probably buried in the Hallett burying ground on his own property, although no monument with his name inscribed on it islocated there.He married Mary Lomax, February 28, 1782, in Savannah, Georgia.(10) She was born January 12, 1769,(1) location unknown. She died August 25, 1847, at Upper Brighton,(1)(9) and was probably buried beside her husband there. Robert Hallett was a Loyalist during the Revolutionary War,1776-1783. He may have been a Pte. in the New York Volunteers in 1779,(4) when he was 20 years old, and was a Pte. and Cpl. in General Oliver DeLancey’s Brigade from 1781 to 1783.(5)(6)(7)(8) He came to New Brunswick in 1783 and settled first on part of Lot 30 on the west sideof the Saint John River about two miles (3.2 km) below the Town of Woodstock, N.B., which land was granted to him October 15, 1784.(11) He later removed to Upper Brighton, on the east side of the Saint John River about one half mile above the Town of Hartland, where on the 6th of Dec., 1815, he was granted Lots 49 and 50, about 385 acres.
