About Cox's Corner Outside Winter Haven,Polk County, Florida Leila Ione Cox
Aunt Ione came to Florida with her husband Sam Cox after the deaths of her beloved Father and Grandfather. She followed in the family footsteps and ran a store near Tampa. After the death of Sam she came to Winter Haven ,FL and opened Cox's Corner which ran until stores like Winn Dixie and Publix were common in the early 1950's. She lived in a mid size house in an orange grove next to a cow pasture. She and Great-Grandmother Harrison lived there until the mid-1980's when old age began to affect them.The land was sold to mine for phosphate and the house was used as a practice house for the local fire dept.
