- "Creighton Churchill, a wine writer and wine consultant, died at Woodstock, Vt., on Thursday of cancer. He was 72 years old.
- "Mr. Churchill was the author of A Notebook for the Wines of France, The World of Wines and The Great Wine Rivers. When President Lyndon B. Johnson learned that United States embassies served foreign wines, he named Mr. Churchill to a panel to select American wines for use at United States posts throughout the world. Since 1965, he had been wine consultant to American Airlines.
- "He was a graduate of the Groton School, Harvard College and the Mozarteum Conservatory in Salzburg, Austria. Later, he studied at L'Ecole de l'Orchestre Symphonique de Paris, under Pierre Monteux.
- "Mr. Churchill was a guest conductor of the Buffalo and Hartford symphony orchestras but abandoned music to become a reporter for The New York Daily News. He served in Army Intelligence in World War II.
