The Nobiliario of Pedro Conde de Barcelos names "Condesa D. Urraca Diaz de Canas, D. Maria" as the children of "D. Diego Lopez" and his second wife "D. Toda Perez, hija de D. Pedro Rodriguez de Azagra", adding in a later passage that "El Conde D. Gonçalo" married "D. Maria"[1174]. Gonzalo & his wife had five children: >>

 don JUAN de Castilla "el Tuerto" (after 1293[761]-murdered Toro 2 Dec 1326).  The mid-14th Century Nobiliario of don Pedro de Portugal Conde de Barcelós names “don Juan” who was blind in one eye as son of “el infante don Juan” and his wife María[762].  He succeeded as Señor Soberano de Vizcaya, by right of his mother.  He disputed power with the Infantes don Felipe and don Juan Manuel, on the accession of King Alfonso XI.  The Chronicon Domini Joannis Emmanuelis records that “Dns Joannes filius Infantis Dni Emmanuelis et Dns Joannes filius Infantis Dni Joannis” renounced their tutorship over King Alfonso XI in Aug 1325[763].  Supported by the powerful Haro family, he acquired a position of such power in Castile that the king eventually imprisoned him and ordered his death.  The Chronicon Domini Joannis Emmanuelis records that the king ordered the death of “Dnm Joannem, filium Infantis Dni Joannis” in 1326[764].  m dona ISABEL de Portugal Senhora de Pinella e Miranda, daughter of Infante dom AFONSO de Portugal Señor de Portoalegre & his wife doña Violante Manuel [de Castilla-Peñafiel] ([1292]-shortly before 1367).  The mid-14th Century Nobiliario of don Pedro de Portugal Conde de Barcelós records that “don Juan el Tuerto” married “doña Isabel, hija del infante don Alonso de Portugal é de doña Violante, hija del infante don Manuel de Castilla é de la infanta doña Constanza de Aragon”[765].  Juan & his wife had one child: 

a) doña MARÍA Díaz de Haro ([1320]-[1348/49]). The mid-14th Century Nobiliario of don Pedro de Portugal Conde de Barcelós names “doña Maria” as daughter of “don Juan el Tuerto” and his wife, adding that she married “don Joan Nuñez, hijo de don Fernan Guidella é de doña Juana de Lara”[766]. She succeeded her father in 1326 as Señora Soberana de Vizcaya. “D. Juan Nuñez Señor de Vizcaya y Doña Maria su muger” founded chapels in Burgos Cathedral by charter dated 1346[767]. m (Bayonne 1331) don JUAN Núñez de Lara Señor de Lara, son of Infante don FERNANDO de Castilla Señor de Lara & his wife doña Juana Núñez de Lara ([1314/15]-Burgos 28 Nov 1350, bur San Pablo de Burgos). He succeeded in 1331 as Señor Soberano de Vizcaya, by right of his wife.

Maria Diaz de Haro: married Count Gonzalo Núñez de Lara.

Teresa Díaz de Haro: married his cousin, the Infante Don Sancho of Leon, son of King Ferdinand II of León.

Mencia Diaz de Haro: married Alvaro Díaz de Cameros, brother of the husband of his sister Aldonza.

don GONZALO Núñez de Lara (-after 1225). Conde 1216. Alférez of don Alfonso IX King of Leon 27 Sep 1220. Señor de Belorado. Governor in Monterroso, Toroño and Trastámara. m firstly (1201 or before) doña JIMENA Menéndez, daughter of ---. m secondly doña MARÍA Díaz de Haro, daughter of don DIEGO López Conde de Haro, Señor Soberano de Vizcaya & his second wife doña Toda Pérez de Azagra. The mid-14th Century Nobiliario of don Pedro de Portugal Conde de Barcelós names “la condesa doña Maria” as a daughter of “Diego Lopez el bueno” and his second wife, and that she married “el Conde don Gonzalo de Lara…hermano de…conde don Alvaro”[1071]. Gonzalo & his second wife had three children:

a) don NUÑO González (-killed in battle 1275).

b) doña LEONOR González. m RODRIGO Guerau de Castro [de Cabrera] Señor de Cigales, son of GUERAU [IV] Ponce Señor de Cabrera & his wife doña Eilo Pérez de Castro (-1259).

c) doña TERESA González ([1220]-1246). The mid-14th Century Nobiliario of don Pedro de Portugal Conde de Barcelós names “doña Teresa Gonzalez de Lara, hermana de don Nuño Gonzalez el bueno” as mother of “doña Juana, hija del infante don Alonso de Molina”[1072]. m (1244) as his second wife, Infante don ALFONSO de León Señor de Molina, son of don ALFONSO IX King of León & his second wife Infanta doña Berenguela de Castilla (Autumn 1202-Salamanca 6 Jan 1272, bur Ciudad Real, castle of Calatrava-la-Nueva).
