About Dame Anne Pollard

Biography

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Fogge-32

Anne Fogge was born before 1512 and was living in 1561. She was the daughter of Thomas Fogge and Eleanor Browne.

Marriages

  1. William Scott (d. 5 June 1536), eldest son of Sir John Scott. There were no children of the marriage.[1]
  2. ? Pollard. Anne was mentioned in the will of her mother Eleanor as 'my daughter Pollard and in the will of her brother in law Sir Reynold Scott as 'my sister [sister in law], Dame Anne Pollard. [2]. Anne's second husband may have been Sir George Pollard. who was slain at Boulogne in 1545, and mentioned in a letter dated 11 January 1546 from the Privy Council to Henry Howard, Earl of Surrey. [3]
  3. Henry Isham. Although a number of sources suggest that the Henry Isham was the son of Thomas Isham and Elena Vere, it could be that Anne's husband was Henry Isham, son of Euseby Isham and Ann Pulton. See the commentary by Nina Green accompanying the transcript of the will of Thomas Fogge (d.1512). [2]

In summary, it seems Anne Fogge married firstly William Scott (d.1536), secondly Sir (George?) Pollard (d.1545), and thirdly Henry Isham, and that after the death of Sir (George?) Pollard and during her marriage to Henry Isham, she continued to be styled ‘Dame Pollard’, as was customary at the time.
