Danie Volschenk (1983 - 2008)

Danie (25), a Fidelity Springbok Guards manager in Witbank, was shot in the face by an employee on 22nd January 2008.

"Witbank police spokesperson Eddie Hall told Beeld that Volschenk and the security guard had been arguing about changes to the man's salary. Hall said: "The next moment, the guard took out his service weapon and pointed it at Danie."

Danie's stepfather, Willie Viljoen, said, "The last words the guard apparently uttered before he shot my son, were; 'I'm sorry about what I'm doing now.'

Danie was taken to Life Health Cosmos Hospital, then later transferred to Pretoria's Unitas Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
