About Sgt. Daniel Adams

Daniel Adams served in King Philip's War from Lancaster, Mass., under Major Simon Willard in 1675. By 1677 he removed to Windsor, Conn., where he married, but within a few years he settled in Simsbury, Conn. In 1698 a military company was formed in Simsbury under Capt. John Higley, and Daniel Adams was appointed one of the two sergeants. From this time until his death he was frequently called Sergeant Daniel Adams in records.

Daniel - b. 1652, Watertown, MA; d. Nov. 7, 1713, Simsbury, CT. Will dated Jul. 29, 1713 and proved Dec. 7, 1713.

Served in King Philip's War under Maj. Simon WILLARD in 1675. Moved to Windsor, CT by 1677, and then to Simsbury, CT.

Baptised at Simsbury Jan. 16, 1697/8. Freeman 1686, deputy 1699, Sgt. under Capt. John HIGLEY 1698. Executor of father's will.

According to the Abstract of Graves of Revolutionary Patriots, Daniel is buried in the Old Burying Ground, Townsend, Middlesex County, Massachusetts - although the cemetery stone says "earliest known burial 1735."
