About Daniel Lee Berry

Dan joined the Arizona National Guard in 1940 and transferred into the Army Air Corps in 1941. He graduated from Officer's Candidate School in 1942 and received his pilot's wings in 1948. Dan spent seventeen years as a bomber pilot in the Strategic Air Command and flew eleven types of military aircraft.. In 1960 Dan's B-47 crew won the Strategic Air Command's Combat Competition. After retirement in 1965, Dan served as Flight Operations Instructor at United Air Lines for eight years. He then spent ten years in general aviation as a flight instructor, charter pilot, chief pilot and designated FAA pilot examiner. During this time, he flew over twenty-one types of civilian aircraft.

Dan was active in Toastmasters International (past District Governor), Cherry Creek Gun Club, Daedalians, Retired Officer's Association, Faith Presbyterian Church (former Deacon). Dan was a Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 147 from 1970 to 1975. Dan enjoyed golfing, boating, fishing, camping and competitive pistol shooting.
