Obituary - , Daniel Garber, one of the oldest residents of this county, died at his home. For several weeks he had been very feeble and his death was not unexpected. He was born in Rockingham County, Virginia, May 18, 1828, died Feb 11, 1911, aged 82 years, 8 months, 2 days.
His parents moved to Montgomery Co., Ohio and he grew up there, marrying Elizabeth Heeter Oct. 6, 1850. In 1854 they came to this county settling on a farm 2 miles northeast of Servia, which he owned at the time of his death. In all of his 57 years in this community, Mr. Garber was known as an upright man, a good citizen, an one of the most respected residents of the county, having a wide acquaintance with all the older people of this section.
He was married 3 times. By his first marriage he the father of John (deceased), Joseph, Samuel and Allen Garber, Mrs. William Wright, Mrs. Henry Wright, and Mrs. J.N. Harter. His first wife died Dec. 15, 1869 and in 1971 he married Elizabeth Shively, who died in 1882. They were the parents of four children, Elsbie, Mary, Ida and Daniel. His third marriage was with Susan Hoover, Oct. 26, 1884, she dying May 30, 1904.
