Daniel Hill. b. 27 Sept. 1751 d.Mendon 18 \Iaf i8l-l tesiiie. aged 58: m. (int.) Mendon 17 Oct. 1776 Mercy Hayward (prob. b. there l6 N{ay 1756, dau. of Joseph and Ruth t-l Hayward: and d. there 2l Oct. 1822. aged 66. She m. (2) llendon 20 Jan. 1815 Timothl'Alexander). 8 children rec. Mendon. Daniel's wili was written 6 Feb. l8l4 and probated 2 Aug. 1814. He left to his wife Mercy one-third of the improvements of all lands. I corvs, and indoor moveables. except his desk, clock, and one bed. To the eldest son George rvas given half of the Alexander farm and half of"the meadow I bought from John Benson, Jr."; he was to pay half his debts and $100 to Abide Hill, a daughter, and S13.33 to another daughter Mercy Holbrook, reserving the right of wife's dower. Son Daniel Jr. was to get the other half of the meadow, all farming tools. clock, half of the church pew, and to pay half of the expenses mentioned above. Also Sl00 to daughter Lowry Hill, a single woman; $10 to daughter Sibyl Bates: S3.33 to daughter Mercy Holbrook: and the youngest son Dan to get the land "I bought lrom Ebenezer Taft and Samuel Warfield and son, lying in the south parish in Nlendon; also 4 acres of woodland I bought from Jonathan Boyce, late of lvfendon. dcd., reserving the right for his mother to have 4 cords,. . . each year"; also his desk. His youngest daughter, Urana Hill, was to get S100 at age 2l; daughter Waites Schiller to have Sl0: Lovice, one bed; the sons to have the clothing. Another document gives a description of the land and how it is to be divided, made by Frederic Taft, Nathan Verry, and Rufus Aldrich on 6 Dec. 1815, countersigned b1' George Hill and John Pond, agent for the minor heirs; it was signed by: Peter Bates, Sibyl Bates. Moses Kelly, Waitie Kelly, Lovice Hill, William Comstock, and Abida Comstock. The inventory included a homestead 33' wide and farm, worth $900. and l7 acres of meadow and pasture land worth $450.
