From the Sheldon Mail, Sheldon, (O'Brien), Iowa, Wednesday, April 7, 1948, Page 9, Column 5:
Dan MacArthur Dies At 86 Years Wed.
Dan Mac Arthur, well-known resident of the city for many years, passed away this Wednesday morning at 4:30.
He had been in failing health for the past years, but grew noticeably worse since the death of his great-granddaughter, Ruth Ann Douma, who passed away on March 15th.
Mr. Mac Arthur was employed in the Prairie Queen mill in the early days and after the closing of the mill he drove an oil truck for a number of years before retiring. He would have celebrated his 87th birthday on June 16.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at two o'clock from the home and 2:30 from the Temple mortuary with Rev. Travis of the Methodist church officiating and interment will be in East Lawn cemetery.
There will be a complete obituary in next week's Mail.
