Friends here were shocked to learn of the passing of Dan Winch at a Chicago hospital last Sunday. While it was general knowledge that he was in poor health, neither friends or relatives realized that his condition was so serious.
Daniel F. Winch passed away on Sunday, December 22. at the Ravenswood hospital in Chicago, after a lingering illness. Born on a farm at Mill Creek April 22, 1871, he had reached the age of 64 years and eight months at the time of his death.
He was married and the father of two children, a son, Leland who resides in LaFayette, Ind., and a daughter, Pearl, of Mazomanie. He was one of our first rural mail carriers. and after retiring from that work, resided for a time in Montana.
Left to mourn his loss are two sisters, Miss Lillian Winch of Chicago, and Mrs. George Willard of round Up, Montana, besides a number of nieces and nephews and many friends.
Funeral services were held at Gesme’s undertaker parlor Tuesday afternoon, the Rev. Edw. J. Sachtjen officiating. Pall bearers were: Edmund Carey, James Broderick, Robert Halsey, Roy Howard, Earl Carter and John Lockwood. Interment was in the Arena cemetery.
Relatives from out of town who came to attend the funeral were Miss Lillian Winch and Daniel Bullard of Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. George Willard of Round Up, Montana; Mrs. William Winch, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Kissinger, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Winch. Daniel Winch and Mr. And Mrs. Wilbur winch of Wisconsin Rapids.
