Daphne Dennill (1952 - 2007)

Brief overview:

Daphne (55), was shot dead at her home in Witbank on 20th July 2007, in front of her husband, children and grandchildren.

Three men emerged from a dark corner just next to the main house where they attempting to remove a window from the house, said her husband Malcolm. "I started shouting to make the people in the house aware of the men outside and then got into a wrestling match with on of the perpetrators", he said.

In the scuffle two of the attackers (it appears that only two weapons) shot at Malcolm three times, but missed. One of the attackers then held a firearm against Malcolm's head, and his legs gave in and he fell to the ground.

It was then that Malcolm's mother and father ran to the front door to see what was going on outside after they heard Malcolm scream and shots were fired.

Daphne pulled open the front door and one of the armed robbers was already at the door security gate. She yelled for the gunman to let go of Malcolm, and he shot her in the upper left chest. After she collapsed on the floor, Malcolm leaned over her and managed to press to panic alarm, and the attackers fled.
