About David Strickland Churchill, Sr.
Until he retired David was a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. It is said that he was stationed in the Yukon Territory in 1932 when a lone, middle aged man, of Danish heritage, raised on a small farm in North Dakota, USA with a surly disposition, threatens, terrorizes and interferes with Lauchoux Natives traps. The RCMP are contacted and when they arrive at his cabin he severely wounds two RCMP officers and later kills another RCMP officer. The man's name is Albert Johnson, the "Mad Trapper of Rat River", who became a fugitive chased and killed by a group of RCMP officers.
David also wrote a number of poems to Nellie before they married.
