ZkLz gives birth as 1840 Obit give birth as Apr 26, 1941 - Family Record Caligraphy pages at Menn Heritage Center give birth as April 26, 1842. For a number of years he manifested symptoms of becoming demented, steadily growing worse until his mind and physical body became desolate. His case was really pitiful and hopeless, and his attendants deemed it necessary to have him removed to some insane asylum and on Monday July 22nd he was admitted to the Harrisburg Insane Asylum. On Wednesday of last week a telegram from the same place was received by his friends that his life was fast ebbing away and that he was at the point of death. Mr. and Mrs. Amos Kauffman at once took the train for the above place. Mr. Hartzler recognized them but was unable to speak and peacefully died early Thursday morning. - The family story is that Great Uncle Taylor and Grandfather Israel Thomas left because of a disagreement between Taylor and David Karl. Something about an article, promised to Taylor, being given to someone else in the family. It didn’t seem like enough to make me move. It always seemed to me that there must have been more to it. His mental condition could explain that. I’ve been searching for a reason for 20 years. I was relieved when I saw the note. Thank you so much. My 3rd, 5th and 6th cousin in law, I think. What a strange term, I like "by marriage" better. (Welda Hartzler Ogle - March 2007)* Reference: RootsWeb's WorldConnect - SmartCopy: Aug 26 2017, 11:55:19 UTC
