About David Leavitt (Krulewich)
David Krulewich, 33, arrived in New York in 1870 sailing from Hamburg with son Itsig Krulewich, 10, on the s.s. British Queen. (See screen capture attachment in Media)
I have found evidence that some Krulewich's in Fall River changed their name to Leavitt. In the case of this David K, I found that a Fall River City Directory indicates he moved to Maine c.1908 and had his name changed to Leavitt. I found also that his wife Leah (Sperling) Krulewich was shown to remain at the 65 Seventh St. Shon residence (the home of her sister-in-law Tillie (Krulewich) Shon - wife of Solomon Shon) until Leah's death Sept. 25, 1910)
(Note to above re: "Levery" - this was as found on the 1900 Census in Fall River and prior to moving to Maine. I would guess that it was what the Census-taker heard when someone at the address said "Leavitt") (ED)
