David Martin

David married Rachel Packenham on 13 Oct 1870. He was 1/4 Cherokee Indian. He is the natural father of Anna May Martin Packenham. David and Rachel divorced in 1874 in Baxter Springs, Kansas.

When Rachel moved her family to Idaho she changed Anna's name to Packenham to protect her from scorn and ridicule that her natural father was part Indian. Her brothers were very protective of her and wanted her to be accepted along with all the other children.
