About David Matlock

David Matlock, the son of William Matlock and Sarah "Sally" Walker, was calculated to have been born in 1818 in Monroe County, Indiana. He was later married in Morgan County, Indiana to a woman named Sarah Huff by a marriage license dated 2 December 1836. Sarah, who was also a native of Indiana, was calculated to have been born there in 1819.

In 1849, David and Sarah moved to Johnson County, Indiana, where they show up on the 1850 census. They later moved back to Morgan County, Indiana, however, where they show up on the 1860 census. Sometime afterwards, David and Sarah moved to the State of Illinois, where they settled in Cumberland County. David, who was a blacksmith by trade, apparently died in Cumberland County prior to 1870. His widow, Sarah, is shown on the 1870 census with their two youngest children, George and Sarah, residing with their son, William, and his family in Union Township in Cumberland County. What became of Sarah has not been determined.
