David married Anna Reynolds. David's brother Pleasant married Anna's sister Winnie. I believe David Martin strictly farmed the land. I'm not sure how he first obtained his father Martin Luther Miller's homestead tract.
David died at the age of 79 in 1890 of brights (kidney) disease. He was the first to be buried in C.N. Miller Cemetery, the Miller family cemetery located near the Martin Luther Miller homestead. Annie would die of "old age" in 1906 and be buried beside David.
Quote by Ray Needham, Grandson to Sarah Miller Cook: "When David Martin Miller and his wife died, there was a drawing for his heirs, to see what tract of land, each heir would get. Sarah Miller, my grandmother, by the drawing, drew the old home place and all the others drew their tract of land. I do not know how much land went with the old home place. But I do know all the heirs got their tracts of land."
Richard Cook and his wife Sarah Miller Cook would live on the tract of land containing the old Martin Luther Miller homestead beginning about 1906. Richard would in turn buy out much or all of the other siblings tracts from them for a total of 49 acres in 1935. C. N. Miller's heirs Max and Fitzhugh Miller, along with Beatrice Miller Shelburn would still own the Miller Cemetery near the original homestead. They would sell the small Miller cemetery to TVA for $62.00.
