David Taylor Parrish, age 82, of LaBelle, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at LaBelle, Missouri. He was born December 17, 1927, at Novelty, Missouri, the son of Austin Floyd and Effie Etta Leckbee Parrish. He was united in marriage to Martha Mae Florea on December 22, 1954 in Knox County, Missouri. Surviving is his wife Martha Mae Parrish of LaBelle, Missouri, three children, Rita Mae Fisher of Springfield, Illinois, Bernita Faye Moorshead and husband Gary of Gladstone, Missouri, and Roger David Parrish and wife Janet of LaBelle, Missouri, a half brother, Floyd Houser of Des Moines, Iowa, seven grandchildren including from this area, Sabrina and her fiancee, Tyler Bartz, Crystal, Andy, and Adam Parrish, several great grandchildren and two sisters-in-law Juanita Parrish of Mexico, Missouri and Doris Jean Hatfield of Kirksville, Missouri. David was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Austin Earl Parrish and one sister Viola Mae Ruble. David received his education in the Hurdland area. He loved farming was employed at several farms in Knox County, Missouri and in Illinois. He was employed for twenty-one years with Gardner-Denver in Quincy, Illinois, worked at D & D Sawmill in Knox County for several years and parked campers at the Old Thrasher's Reunion at Mt. Pleasant, Iowa for a number of years. David enjoyed camping, fishing, farming, hunting, gardening and spending time with family and friends. David was a member of the Knox City Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, May 15, 2010, at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home at Edina, Missouri. Reverend Doug Wilson will officiate the services. Burial will be in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery Northeast of Edina, Missouri. Musical selections will be "Long Black Train" and "Go Rest High On That Mountain". Casket bearers will be Eugene Parrish, David Arment, Wayne Hatfield, Nick Parrish, Nicholas Parrish, Rick Hatfield and Mark Hatfield. Visitation will be Friday, May 14, 2010, after 4 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home at Edina, Missouri. Expressions of sympathy in memory of David Parrish may be made to Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1, Edina, Missouri, 63537.
